Recruiting testers is the single biggest blocker to launching a new Android app. Here's how to do it without spamming your friends.
Where to look first
- Niche communities and subreddits related to your app's topic.
- Indie developer Discords that run mutual-testing threads.
- Your existing newsletter or social following, if you have one.
- Beta-testing exchange groups (with caution — quality varies).
- A managed tester service for guaranteed, verified participation.
Avoid bot farms and incentivized installs. They put your developer account at risk and rarely produce stable 14-day participation.
Keep them engaged
Recruiting is only half the job. Testers must remain opted in for the full window, so send a short reminder mid-cycle and make the install path frictionless.
